My Story...
I was born in Warsaw, Poland. When I was 6 years old, my parents told my sister and I that we were going on a summer holiday to Italy. A few weeks into the trip my mom informed me that I was to start primary school in the town we were spending our 'vacation'. This is the point at which, I realized that we were not actually on a vacation. My family was escaping Poland’s communist regime.. In the late 80's the Australian government accepted my family as political refugees and we moved to Sydney Australia, where I grew up (hence, my accent)
I spent most of my childhood rescuing injured birds, helping stray dogs find their owners and volunteering at animal shelters and veterinary clinics. My mother is a physician and my father a dentist. I grew up exposed to the world of medicine, but the only medicine I was ever interested in pertains to animals.

In 2013 I graduated from the University of Sydney Australia with a degree in veterinary medicine. During veterinary school, I worked as a veterinary nurse at a small animal and exotics clinic in Australia. I also volunteered for a wildlife and rescue group, where I rehabilitated and released numerous birds, reptiles and marsupials.

In 2015, I completed an Exotic and Small Animal General Practice and Emergency Medicine internship in Oceanside California and have continued to work in general practice, emergency practice and animal shelters treating a wide variety of animal species. I am passionate about ‘Fear Free’ appointments for all my patients and have a special interest in exotic animal medicine, surgery, nutrition and integrative medicine. I also teach Emergency Exotic Animal Medicine to veterinary interns.
Prior to becoming a veterinarian I graduated from the University of New South Wales, Australia with a degree in Interior Architecture with first class honors. I practiced Interior Architecture for over 10 years, both in San Diego and Sydney. San Diego is now my permanent home. I have lived here for over 12 years. During my time off, I love exploring So. Cal with my family, including my husband and son and spending time with my cat (Theo) and budgie (McFly). I also enjoy bird watching, painting, sculpture, photography, and any arts and crafts I can get my hands on. I am currently working on writing and illustrating a veterinary related children's book, which I hope to release soon. So stay tuned for updates!!! |
